Sad Day

Another very special long-time blogging cat has run off to the Rainbow Bridge.  Rocky the Gutter Cat was a great personality.  We are thinking of his family at this sad time.  Too many great cats have gone to the Bridge this year.  We hope he finds Fat Eric there and they can share some naps and chat about some mancatly stuff.

We still miss Eric terribly.  We have been without him for four months now.  Life just isn’t the same without having my hair licked in the mornings and when I get home, and being drooled on regularly by a heavy, purring ginger mancat on my lap.  We miss listening to him snoring in the evenings too, drowning out the TV with the noise!   John was saying tonight he still feels strange being able to eat a plate of cheese and crackers without having Eric’s eyes fixed on his plate.  I still look down from the dinner table expecting to see Eric stationed by my left leg in his normal dinner time position.  Dora is a sweetie but Eric is still the cat of our hearts.  Today I watched this video from his blog.  It was good to be able to hear his purrs again.

  1. I’m gonna miss Rocky. I still miss Eric. When I think of all the kitty friends that have already gone on to the Bridge, it’s kinda too big to contemplate…over the years there have been so many. I just know I’m gonna get to see them someday, and that takes some of the sting out of it. Some of it…

  2. We are going to miss Rocky and we miss Eric too, but we know they have met up at the Bridge with our brofur Max and they all are rumbling like mancats do.

Eric’s sweet purrs on his video were so wonderful to hear, we know how much you miss your sweet boy … we are sendings (((hugs))) to you Mum and Dad.

    Purrs and headbutts,
    Sabrina, Sam and Simon

  3. We are very sad also that Rocky has gone to the Bridge. That was a sweet video of Eric purring.

  4. Hearing Eric’s purr was so heartwarming. We still miss each and everyone of our unique Bridge angels.

My momma Ellie licks hair in the middle of the night. I will tell my mom to appreciate it. This is a good reminder.

  5. We understand how you feel about Eric. It’s 2-1/2 months since Sniffie went to the Bridge and Mom still aches for her. We think Rocky, Eric, Sniffie and Luxor are having a great holiday at the Bridge.

  6. We will miss Rocky like the dickens. His blog and Eric’s were some of the first we ever read, years ago when we were only lurking. Rocky was The Original ManCat.
Mommy says that you were so lucky to have such a special Heart Cat like Eric, she too had a Very Special Cat and feels blessed for the experience.

  7. I didn’t get to know Rocky or Eric like everyone else did. That doesn’t lessen the emptiness, though. We get to know so many furriends on here that when they go, it’s a personal loss for all of us.

I’m so sorry there’s sadness for you at this holiday time. I wish I had known Rocky.

  8. My Molly (age 18) went to the bridge on September 23, 2010…what I wouldn’t give to hear her purr again!

We didn’t know Rocky, but will pop over and leave our condolences with his family.

  9. We have lost so many friends this year but it is comforting to know that they will all be keeping each other together at the bridge. The video is lovely. Hugs GJ x

  10. We’re sorry about Rocky. You are right, way too many beautiful cats have gone to the bridge this year.
We miss Eric too ~ so can understand how hard it must be for you. He was a beautiful boy and it’s good that he has his own special place in your hearts now.

  11. We just followed the link and watched Eric’s video. It made us feel sad, and yet happy to see him. Purrs.

  12. yes, we are furry saddened by rocky’s passing. it makes us fink of when uncle eeker an’ nelson lapurr left us. an’ we know — really know — how rocky’s fambly feels an’ how you feel, too, dear miss kate. mommer is leakin’ a little right now, thinkin’ of you an’ eric. so sweet to see that viddy of him an’ hear his purr! we send purrs to you, dear lady.

peeyes: yes, we DID mean -15 C; our teef were chatterin’ so much, our vision was blurred an’ we din’t see the little “-” on the conversion scale!!

  13. We just read the news as we’ve been out of town and are behind on the blogosphere happenings.
Rocky was a great cat, a colorful personality thats for sure. He wrote a terrific blog!
I’m sad again thinking of dear Eric, I loved him so. He was Shaggy’s English twin, and grand cat. sss’s mom

  14. Hello MomKate. Meowmy was feeling kind of sad and blue and went back to read your lovely testimonial to Fat Eric, who she liked very much. And she noticed for the first time that you had said you were starting another blog. What a joy to come here and find that Dora has worked her way into your household! What fun to have a baby tortie to raise! Happy Holidays to you all!
