Dora the Climber

Dora is very good at climbing for her age (she’ll be five months old on Christmas Day).  I blame John for having so many climbing/mountaineering pictures up in the house – I think they may have been giving her ideas.  John thinks Bonington would have been a good name for her (after his all-time climbing hero).

She is very good at balancing on the top of her scratching post, but this isn’t much of a challenge for her…

…climbing on top of the kitchen door is much more fun, although it leads to lots of shouting of “Dora!  Get down!” and screaming if she decides to jump on a hapless human from above.

This is Dora pretending she didn’t hear the cries of  “Dora! Get down!”

She has also developed a new enthusiasm for carrying objects around the house.  I keep coming home and finding that something which was downstairs in the living room is now upstairs on the spare bed, or that something which was in our bedroom is now downstairs in the kitchen, or that there are a bunch of cat toys halfway up the stairs…she must be very busy all day moving stuff around!  I am off work sick tomorrow (terrible cold/flu, possibly swine flu apparently) so I am hoping she will want to do some snuggling rather than playing THoE around the house all day!

Meanwhile, talk to the tail, the tortie ain’t listenin’…

  1. Dora, your humans will be sad when you outgrow this stage — don’t let them convince you otherwise! But do try to take time out to nurse your mum! We’re sending her lots of healing purrs and hope she’s better soon.

  2. Dora, you remind us so much of our Delilah and Sweet Pea. Deli is 4 and still has not outgrown the kitten phase, and Sweet Pea is one and…well, she is just like you! Our Persian Tortie, Bella, is 11 and still has plenty of tortitude!

Our humans have the belief that Torties show up and choose them for a reason, and we know you’re there to help your humans through a difficult time… we think you’re doing a perfect job! It doesn’t hurt that you’re absolutely aDORAble!

  3. You are very adventurous Dora. We hope your mum soon feels better with plenty of snuggling from you.

  4. Welcome to tortietude!

Hope you are feeling better soon.

  5. Dora, if you don’t have a middle name I think you should be named Dora Bonington. We all have middle names!

  6. “Get down” – what exactly does that mean? I have heard that term before, but I have never been able to interpret it. Dora, do you know? Didn’t think so.

  7. Dora, you crack us up with all your antics! Tomorrow you’ll have to put your Nurse uniform on and leave the Clown one at the door…

You purr on your Mummy, flu is No Fun.

  8. It is so much fun to move toys all over the place. Dora, you purr good on your mum and drive those swiney flu bugs away.

  9. She is so kyooooot! Little poodins apparently like to tote things around…

  12. Seems you really have fun with Dora and she keeps you busy too, hm?
She is such a cute little kittygirl 🙂

  13. Dora will keep you entertained tomorrow while you are trying to hide under the covers – – just hope she doesn’t keep throwing herself off anything high on to your head. You timed the flu at the wrong time with the school holidays fast approaching hope you’ll make it to Cornish Grandmas.

  14. Oh Dora is such a cutie! We understand the carrying thing – Virgil loved to do that when he was that age, and Gus does it too. Well, at least mom only knows that the two of them do! And the climbing – well that is a problem here too – mom freaks out about it because both Gus and Stella love to get up high (the rest of us never really tried it).

  15. Look after mum and tell her to nurse that cold. I love to see you climbing .. Hugs GJ x
